Work of Art: The Next Great Artist

Bravo has a very negative reputation for producing "trash" television. And for the most part, I agree with this. Although, there is one show that had me hooked from the season premiere. Work of Art is a reality televison series that showcases upcoming artists. Each week, they have a themed challenge where each artist uniquely interprets and solves, in hopes of becoming "The Next Great Artist." Season's two winner, Kymia Nawabi, is a talented creator who discovers who she is as an artist and the audience that her art speaks to. Kymia states, "I feel as though if I name, materialize and own the phantoms of my internal landscapes, then I can master these personal phenomenons I have concerning who and what I am in this world." With rigorous challenges, Kymia still consistantly delivered quality work with inspiration behind every piece. Kymia's work did not really stand out to me more than the other artists until the season finale. Her final showcase was incredible. I appreciated the way she approached art making and the story she would express through her art. Here is some of her pieces from the season finale!
